Star Wars Challenge - Week 29

The best Star Wars related story/incident you've had

Well, now, I'm not sure I can narrow it down to a 'best' incident.   Let's see...

-meeting Timothy Zahn, famous author
-traveling across the state to meet the awesome folks in Havoc Squad

-visiting Lucasfilm in San Francisco
-being recognized as Jedi at our local Starbucks, even out of costume
-walking around the Puyallup Fair with our trooping buddies raising money for charity

Those are just a few highlights, but let's go back to our very first debut as Jedi at a local letterboxing event up north of Seattle.  Picture this - two Jedi, a pirate, two young teens, and a guest from out of town walking into Azteca after a hot afternoon of schmoozing and exchanging stamps.

The waitress seats us clear across the whole restaurant, so we walk past every other customer all trying not to look at us.  She seats us, we order our drinks... then the hostess comes to our table holding a suspiciously familiar looking item.  She asks 'Did one of you drop this?'

Of course, we all die laughing, especially me as I admit 'yes, it's mine' after feeling around in the back of my hair for my padawan braid.  Yes, my braid fell off as we traipsed across the restaurant.  Nice... can I say it was just a little embarrassing?  Needless to say, I no longer sport my braid - too hard to keep attached.

Fond memories I have, though mixed with not so pleasant ones of being mocked and harshly judged for our hobby even to the point of it becoming one of several reasons for leaving our last congregation.  Yep, the good, the bad and the ugly - all part of the journey.
